Wayne Rooney has hit back at claims over how he's transformed his appearance, having shown off his new look at the premiere of his new reality show with his wife, Coleen.
The former professional footballer has said he has been "working really hard to lose weight", and has insisted that he hasn't turned to alternative methods to change his physical appearance. He has, however, undergone work on his nose, having broken it twice during his playing career, including his celebrated time at Manchester United.
Rooney responds to weight loss speculation
Speaking to the Daily Mail ahead of the release of his and Coleen's new Disney+ docuseries, The Real Rooneys, he said: "Apparently, I've seen recently, I've been taking this pen thing about me. It's a shame, because I'm working really hard to lose weight. Apparently, I've been on the pen."
Coleen went on to add: "I thought you were gonna say then, my nose wasn't a cosmetic job, it was a medical job!" She also said that she persuaded Wayne to have the operation, partly to improve his snoring. She said, "I tried to get him to do it because of his snoring," as Wayne added, "I couldn't blow one side out of my nose, so I had it fixed."
Cameras enter the Rooney family home
While they are sometimes seen bringing fans into their home life on social media, the couple, who have been married since 2008, have invited cameras into their Cheshire mansion for the first time, as they juggle work responsibilities while raising their sons Kai, 16, Klay, 13, Kit, 10, and Cass, eight.
According to the synopsis of The Real Rooneys, which arrives on the streaming platform on Thursday (September 24): "With unprecedented access, we follow the family through the highs and lows of married life, raising four lively boys, and supporting eldest son Kai as he pursues his own footballing dream. Why now for the Rooneys
Speaking exclusively to the Manchester Evening News, Coleen shared how she and Wayne have been offered shows for years, but that now felt like the right time. "The kids are older, we have done stuff in the past, done documentaries and got a taste of having the cameras around," she shared. "And I think also going into the jungle, I exposed myself a lot in there. So I just felt, we've been asked for a long time to do something like this, and it's never been the right time. But I think if it felt like the right time and, you know, Wayne was around a bit more. So as a family unit, you know, we felt like we could deliver and let people into our lives."
