Rachel and Stephen have made history as the first pair of traitors to win the BBC series The Traitors together. The duo were crowned winners of the fourth series on Friday night after voting out every faithful in the finale, splitting the £95,750 prize pot equally.
Rachel, a communications director from Newry, Northern Ireland, and Stephen, a cyber security consultant originally from the Isle of Lewis, were selected as traitors by host Claudia Winkleman from the start. Early on, they formed a pact never to vote each other out, sticking to their word throughout the game.
After their win, Stephen said: 'I had moments where I was doubting what I was going to do tonight, but I couldn't go back on my word to you.' Rachel added: 'It's the best feeling in the world. I think it will be a very long time until you get the smile off my face.'
The finale saw gardener James banished after a roundtable deadlock with Rachel, leaving their fate to chance. Rachel won a shield, saving herself. The final five completed a mission scaling a dam and taking a helicopter ride before returning for the final roundtables, where PhD student Jade and auditor Faraaz were eliminated, followed by personal trainer Jack.
Winkleman praised the pair on spin-off show The Traitors: Uncloaked, saying: 'We've never seen that before. Lots of people make alliances and they last an episode or five minutes, but they decided... Bonnie and Clyde.'
