Viewers of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! were left completely astonished on Monday night when Tom Read Wilson unexpectedly revealed a completely different speaking voice, creating one of the most talked-about moments of the series so far.
The Camp Conversation That Sparked The Revelation
The surprising moment unfolded during a conversation about dating within the camp. Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley, 49, asked the Celebs Go Dating star, 39, about his love life. Tom explained that while he could "find" men, he struggled to "keep them."
This confession prompted fellow campmate Jack Osbourne, 40, to jokingly ask, 'Wait, Tom, you're gay?' Tom, describing himself as a "beacon of butch," then decided to playfully demonstrate his "masculine side" by pretending to flirt with model and presenter Kelly Brook, 46.
A Voice Transformation Stuns The Camp
When Kelly inquired about his 'type' in women, Tom responded in a surprisingly deep, husky voice, telling the model that she "fit the bill." He continued in this unfamiliar tone, adding, 'You fit the bill, you totally fit the bill babe,' leaving his fellow celebrities in a state of amazement.
The performance continued in the Bush Telegraph, where Tom maintained the act. 'You know what, that Tom character with all the fancy language, it is so exhausting,' he said in the husky voice. 'Much nicer to hang in here.' He then abruptly reverted to his familiar, more camp demeanour, exclaiming, 'Oh God, what's wrong with me?'
Viewer Reaction and Camp Life
The scenes sparked an immediate and intense reaction on social media, with fans expressing their confusion and surprise. One viewer wrote, 'Tom's manly voice is so good he's got the nation confused on which one's real.' Another added, 'It's hard to tell which voice is the real Tom,' while a third simply asked, 'Wait so Tom puts that high pitch voice on.'
This wasn't Tom's only memorable moment in the jungle. In an earlier episode, he faced a 'withering putdown' from comedian Ruby Wax, 72, after reciting a sonnet to her. He has also been seen singing scales loudly in the creek and treating campmates to a tap dance performance.
Meanwhile, Tom had previously shared with the Daily Mail that he experienced a pre-show 'wobble', breaking down in tears due to anxiety about the challenge and being separated from his five godkids and three nephews. He credited a philosophical taxi driver named Abdi with helping him gain perspective by comparing the experience to climbing a large tree one step at a time.
I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues nightly on ITV1 and ITVX.
