Viewers tuning into the brand new series of The Voice UK have shared the same complaint just minutes into the first show. The hit ITV singing contest returned to screens tonight (August 22) after taking a break last year, and this year will see some major changes to the series.
New coach joins the panel
Former Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland, 45, has joined the show as a coach, replacing country singer LeAnn Rimes, who left the show after one season. Kelly joins Sir Tom Jones, Will.i.am, and McFly's Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, who each have eight places on their teams.
Rewind button introduced
Another big change is also being introduced to the format for the new series, which is set to shake things up. Judges now have a rewind button, which will give each coach one chance during the blind auditions to change their mind about an act who has left the stage without a chair turn. If a coach realises they have made a mistake, they can press the rewind button to bring the act back and offer them a place on their team.
Fans notice missing performance
But fans of the singing show also noticed another change to the format this year. The Voice UK traditionally opens its new series with a special performance featuring all the celebrity coaches singing together - but that didn't happen this year as they got straight into the blind auditions.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, to complain, one viewer @FleuritoFaveees said: "Did they not film a coaches performance this year or what #TheVoiceUK." @superTV247 wrote: "They got Kelly Rowland on the panel and for the first time in 15 years DIDN'T open the series with a coaches performance?! Fire the producers #TheVoiceUK." @turntheboxon also said: "No coach performance?!? wtf #TheVoiceUK."
