Strictly Come Dancing professional Luba Mushtuk has shared her unconventional and solitary plans for the festive season, prompting a heartfelt tribute from former celebrity partner Amber Davies.
A Solo Celebration
The 36-year-old dancer confirmed her unique Christmas arrangements during an appearance on Monday's episode of ITV's Loose Women. She was joined by EastEnders actor Nicholas Bailey, 54, ahead of their pre-recorded performance for the Strictly Christmas special, which airs on December 25.
When asked by the panel how she would be spending the holiday, Luba revealed: "I am painting my walls, by choice, on my own." She elaborated, stating she believed some people would love to do the same and that she was embracing the time for herself. "I just felt like I need some time on my own, have some ice cream, watch some movies and paint my walls!" she added.
Tributes and Contrasting Festive Plans
Following the broadcast, Amber Davies, the 29-year-old Love Island star who was runner-up to winner Karen Carney in Saturday's Strictly final, paid a warm tribute to her professional partner. She shared a sweet backstage snap of the pair hugging, calling Luba "one in a million."
In stark contrast to Luba's quiet plans, her Loose Women co-guest Nicholas Bailey outlined a bustling family Christmas. He explained he would be enjoying a traditional Caribbean celebration with his mother, daughters, and cousins. "We'll have a proper Caribbean roast, my nan's mac and cheese and Caribbean rum cake to finish us off!" he said.
Reflections on the Strictly Experience
The interview also touched on Nicholas's experience competing in the Christmas special, where he will face celebrities including Scarlett Moffatt, Melanie Blatt, and Brian McFadden. He confessed the training was physically demanding, revealing "there were some aches and pains, and some muscles I didn't know I had."
He also spoke about the emotional weight of filming the special, which marks the final Strictly appearance of hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman after 14 years. "It's such a privilege to be part of their last ever appearance on the show. It was very moving, but very uplifting as well," Nicholas stated.
Luba Mushtuk joined Strictly Come Dancing back in 2016 and has been a professional dancer since 2018, previously being partnered with stars like James Cracknell and Adam Thomas. Loose Women airs weekdays from 12:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
