Strictly Come Dancing viewers fear Shaun Wright-Phillips could be the first celebrity eliminated from the BBC show after his Movie Week routine was revealed.
The opening live show of the series saw contestants perform with their professional partners. While social media personality John Nellis topped the leaderboard with a score of 31, three celebrities shared the bottom spot: Sarah Storey, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Melanie Walters, each with a score of 15.
Their standings may shift after Movie Week, as scores from week one and week two will be combined.
Movie Week routines revealed
Strictly has been unveiling the routines for Saturday (October 3) via its official Instagram account. Bethany Antonia and Nancy Xu will perform a Paso Doble to No Good Deed from Wicked: For Good, while Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu will attempt a Cha Cha to Pretty Women.
Shaun Wright-Phillips will perform a Salsa to You Should Be Dancing from Saturday Night Fever, a choice that triggered fan backlash.
Fan reaction on Reddit
On Reddit, viewers voiced concerns, with one writing: "Oh no, Shaun :( Not looking good." Another said: "Yeah, I think it may be over, Shaun.... I was thinking he'd get a ballroom dance or American Smooth, but I guess not."
A third commented: "Yeah, Shaun's going, another Latin after that Cha Cha Cha." A fourth remarked: "It's curtains for Shaun." Another stated: "I've said previously that I think Shaun will go first, but that's just a stitch up."
However, one fan expressed faith, saying: "Oof, tough for Shaun, but I believe in him (and Alexis)!!!" Another commented: "I already know I'm putting all my votes on Shaun, I'm not ready to say bye to him yet :( I want his journey arc."
Score and new hosts
Shaun, 44, received just a two from judge Craig Revel Horwood in week one. Audiences will see his Salsa score on Saturday's show.
With the series underway, viewers welcomed Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe as new hosts. Professional dancer Katya praised Johannes' post-performance chats on Good Morning Britain, saying: "As a dancer, standing there and talking to Johannes, someone who has done it himself, he really empathises with us."
She added: "It's really comforting, and that's a really good shout having him just after the stressful moment of doing the dance and receiving the scores to come back and go, 'You know what it's like'. I think that's really comforting to have upstairs as a professional dancer."
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday October 3 on BBC One from 6:15pm.
