Drag Race UK star La Voix has withdrawn from Strictly Come Dancing due to injury, prompting the cancellation of this week's elimination. The 45-year-old, real name Christopher Dennis, sustained an injury that prevented her from performing at the iconic Tower Ballroom in Blackpool.
Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced at the start of Saturday's show that La Voix would not dance, and later confirmed she had withdrawn on medical advice. Daly said: 'Now, as you may have heard, La Voix sustained an injury, meaning that she can’t dance in Blackpool tonight, and following further advice from our medical team, we can now confirm she has very sadly had to withdraw from the competition.'
Winkleman added: 'We will be speaking to La Voix on tomorrow night’s show, we love you so, so much.' As a result, there will be no dance-off this week, and all remaining six couples will return next week. Scores from this week will carry over to the next episode.
La Voix, paired with professional Aljaz Skorjanec, expressed devastation at missing the Blackpool performance. She said: 'It is with immense sadness that I have to withdraw... Due to an injury, I’ve been advised that I’m unable to perform, and my heart truly breaks knowing I won’t be dancing in such an iconic venue.' She is the second contestant to leave this series due to injury, following Neighbours actor Stefan Dennis in October.
