The family of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! star Shona McGarty have broken their silence on the rumours of a potential jungle romance with fellow contestant, rapper Aitch.
Family's Verdict on the Rapper
Shona's sister, Camila, delivered the family's verdict as she touched down at Brisbane Airport on Tuesday 25 November. Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, she gave Aitch her personal seal of approval. "He is a nice guy...I would definitely have him around for Christmas," Camila stated, offering a warm welcome to the musician.
This family endorsement comes after Aitch confessed his feelings about the EastEnders actress to campmate Angry Ginge towards the end of last week. The rapper admitted, "I've got a bit of a soft spot for Shona, me," a revelation that presenters Ant and Dec said they were desperate to see blossom into a full-fledged jungle romance.
A Cautious View on the Romance
Despite her positive opinion of Aitch, Camila expressed a note of caution about leaping to romantic conclusions. "I don't know if I see it romantically…it might just be a brother and sister relationship but I don't know...I don't think we have seen enough to make a definite decision on it," she added, suggesting viewers should wait for more evidence.
Both stars are currently single, which has fuelled the speculation. Shona parted ways with her musician fiancé, David Bracken, earlier this year. Insiders have described the split as amicable, noting that he recently wished her well for her jungle adventure on social media. Similarly, Aitch is single after splitting with Lois Cottam before entering the reality show.
Pride and Praise from Her Sister
Beyond the romance rumours, Camila opened up about her immense pride in her sister for bravely discussing her battle with anxiety on national television. Before entering the jungle, Shona had revealed, “My mental health, my anxiety and my depression has been pretty bad over the last at least four or five years, and that has stopped me from doing a lot of things I have always wanted to do.”
Camilla admitted it has been strange watching Shona's journey, especially during moments of upset. "It's been strange watching her, including some parts where she has been a bit upset and not being able to be there for her. But she is doing absolutely fine," she reassured.
She also expressed delight that the public is finally seeing Shona's incredible singing talent, which has wowed the camp, including a rendition of Tina Turner’s ‘Proud Mary’. "She is always singing...kitchen karaoke sessions until 3am. We are a very sing song family," Camilla shared, painting a picture of their musical household.
The anticipation for a romance is high, with Dec revealing he was "shell-shocked" by Aitch's confession when he previewed the scenes before they aired on Friday night. Ant added, "It's been a while since we've had a proper romance on this show. We'd love to see it....we would celebrate it." The nation now watches and waits to see if a jungle love story will truly unfold.
