Comedy veteran Ruby Wax confronted one of her jungle fears head-on during a first look at the latest Bushtucker Trial on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!. The 72-year-old star took on the 'Misfortune Tellers' challenge, which involved a slithering co-star and some classic teasing from hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.
Misfortune Tellers Trial Puts Ruby to the Test
A preview of the trial, set to air on ITV, showed Ruby entering a fortune teller's themed box where she had to untie stars attached to branches. True to the show's form, she was not alone. A snake was positioned directly above her head, quickly becoming a major obstacle as it slithered down and whipped her face during the task.
As Ruby began, Ant couldn't resist a playful jab. Peering into a prop crystal ball, he pretended to foresee her success, telling Dec, 'I think she's going to get one star... in this one.' After Dec queried 'just one?', the duo 'read' the ball in unison to confirm their pessimistic prediction with a simple 'Yes.'
Fan Backlash Over Camp Leader Antics
The trial comes after viewers branded Ruby 'unbearable' following her behaviour in Sunday's episode (November 30). She had just become the camp's new leader after Shona McGarty was stripped of the role for breaking contraband rules by using smuggled butter.
Despite previously criticising Shona for taking the leadership too seriously and making a crown, fans noted Ruby swiftly did the same. She constructed a dramatic veil and strutted around camp, leading to a backlash on social media platform X. One viewer wrote: 'Ruby is so much worse than Shona with letting her being leader and it going to her head.' Another added: 'So, Ruby has a go at Shona... and now she's doing the same???'
Elimination Shakes the Camp
The episode also saw the second celebrity elimination of the series. Funnyman Eddie Kadi, 42, was voted out, following former Lioness Alex Scott, 41, who was the first to leave two days earlier. Their departures mark the beginning of the淘汰 process for the 2025 cast.
As Ruby continues her jungle journey, the question remains whether she can use her self-professed love for snakes to conquer the 'Misfortune Tellers' and win food for her campmates. I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues nightly at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
