Romesh Ranganathan regrets 'eggy' Celebrity Traitors moments

Romesh Ranganathan has addressed three questionable moments from The Celebrity Traitors that left viewers puzzled, setting the record straight during his BBC Radio 2 show on Saturday morning. The 48-year-old comedian returned to the airwaves just hours after the dramatic second episode of the BBC series aired.

Romesh's Radio 2 listeners and colleague, traffic reporter Sally Boazman, were eager for inside information from the Scottish castle, but the presenter promised not to reveal any spoilers. Instead, he answered questions about his behaviour on the series so far, including one moment he expressed regrets about.

Regret over immunity dance

Firstly, the radio host, who is a Faithful on the show, read out a listener's message: "Loving The Traitors Romesh, enjoyed your little dance when you found out you had immunity."

He admitted in response: "Now, I, umm, I regret that dance, can I be honest with you?" Prompting co-star Sally to agree: "It wasn't your finest moment, I don't think."

Recalling what his fellow celebrity contestants thought about the spontaneous celebratory routine, which occurred when Romesh and Ross Kemp were informed by host Claudia Winkleman that they were immune from the next murder, he confessed: "A lot of people came up to me afterwards and said, 'you know you're being filmed doing that?'"

Castle life and an 'eggy' comment

Romesh then asked Sally if she had any more questions, and she was keen to know whether it's "really posh inside the castle", adding: "The food looks amazing, it always makes me want to make a meal!" In response, the Parents' Evening host joked: "It's almost as posh, I would say, as my home."

Sally was also intrigued by Romesh's "odd" comment during episode two, where the celebrities were given the chance to save each other from the Traitors' next murder and win more money for the prize fund. She recalled: "Well, at one point, you said, 'oh let's go and make some money... ooh, why did I say that?' Now, that was a bit of an odd thing to say, because you always do that here, you say something on air and then you say, 'I don't know why I said that'."

Romesh agreed: "Yep, immediate regret," before revealing he didn't even remember saying it until Sally played a clip from the episode. After being reminded, he explained: "Ok, can I tell you why I said that? Because it's just such an eggy thing to say, 'let's raise some money, guys!' It's just so embarrassing!"

Sally quipped: "I tell you what, it was the 'guys' at the end," as the duo burst into laughter.

Moment with Rob Beckett

Bringing up another startling moment he shared with friend and co-star Rob Beckett, in which they both confirmed to one another that they weren't Traitors, Sally asked about how the comedians seemingly "went in for a bit of a snog".

Making light of the moment, Romesh cheekily explained: "Before I went into the castle, I was looking at strategies and stuff like that, and one of the things is, you can tell someone's a Traitor from a full-on tongue kiss... no, I'm joking!"

He went on to confess that his close friendship with Rob "is a weakness" in the game, adding: "There's an advantage in some ways, but once you're in the game, it's difficult."

The Celebrity Traitors continues on Thursday October 8th from 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
