Kensington Palace delighted royal fans by releasing a video to celebrate Prince George's 13th birthday. The 18-second clip comes hours after a new photograph of the second-in-line to the throne was shared on social media.
Beach footage and cameo
The video shows Prince George having fun on the beach, wearing the same sunglasses he recently wore at Wimbledon. The footage, which features a cameo from his younger brother Prince Louis, was captured earlier this year in Cornwall during the Wales family's Easter break. The caption reads: "Thank you for all the birthday wishes for George today [birthday cake emoji]."
Birthday photograph
Earlier, Kensington Palace shared a new birthday picture of the Prince and Princess of Wales's eldest child with the caption: "Happy 13th Birthday, George!" alongside a party popper emoji. The photograph was taken after Trooping The Colour last month. The prince looks relaxed with his hands in his pockets, his top shirt button undone, and his tie removed.
Family celebrations and future plans
Prince George will likely spend the day with his parents, Prince William and Princess Catherine, and siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The day is special as George is set for changes ahead, including a move to Eton College. He was born on July 22, 2013, at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, West London, and named George Alexander Louis. Buckingham Palace announced his birth with a statement: "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm. The baby weighs 8lbs 6oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight."
