The trailer for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season two has been released, confirming that Julia Beauchamp and her husband Henry will be separated once more, leaving fans distraught.
The prequel series premieres on Starz on September 18 in the USA and on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK on September 19. The new footage reveals momentous scenes, including Julia (Hermione Corfield) and Henry (Jeremy Irvine) facing yet another separation.
Julia trapped in the past
At the conclusion of the first series, the couple attempted to escape through the stones, hoping to return to the 20th century together as a family. However, it has now been confirmed that they will be wrenched apart once more. Julia finds herself trapped in the past again with their infant son baby William and may be compelled to return to her husband Simon Fraser (Tony Curran).
Meanwhile, Henry, who was already battling post-traumatic stress disorder following his experiences in the World War I trenches, appears destined to be committed to an asylum, where he will be subjected to electroshock therapy. Julia later confides in Davina Porter (Sara Vickers) the truth about her relationship with Henry as her desperation to be reunited with him grows.

The scenes have left numerous Outlander fans distraught, with viewers flocking to the comments section on Instagram. One wrote: "I'm already suffering, and its just the trailer." Another added: "Omg Henry and Julia will be apart again? ! ENOUGH ! ! ! [sic]."
A third fan commented: "Omg Henry nooooooo. I can't handle them being separated again [sic]." A fourth wrote on YouTube: "Wait this looks so good.... I'm genuinely so hyped to see this season.... I can't get over outlander and I refuse to think about it ending lol... this is gonna devastate me."
Theories and what's next
Numerous viewers have been theorising about why Julia managed to travel through the stones initially, but failed this time. One person suggested: "The baby has the gene, Julian does not. She traveled when she was first pregnant; now, only the baby can travel, not her [sic]."
Another remarked: "Or they all have the gene, and only Henry had a gemstone somewhere on him. In Outlander show lore, you need a gemstone to travel. They don't appear to know this." A further viewer pondered: "The only reason I can think of is the baby doesn't have the time travel gene and because she was holding the baby that is why she did not go through. Alongside Julia and Henry's second separation, season two will witness Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) concluding their time as fugitives as he must answer the Highland call and participate in the 1715 Jacobite Rising. Ellen declares they can only be legitimately married once the conflict concludes, imploring Brian to survive for her sake.
Ellen is compelled to go back to Castle Leoch, where she discovers her brothers Colum MacKenzie (Séamus McLean Ross) and Dougal (Sam Retford) quarrelling over their response to the call to arms. Drawing on her cunning, Ellen devises a strategy to safeguard Clan MacKenzie whatever the outcome of the battle.
The series will unfold across two timelines as Henry struggles with his mental health and tries to return to Julia and the 1700s, which has grown into an increasingly dangerous era. A total of 10 episodes will comprise the second series, broadcasting on a weekly basis.
