Mrs Brown's Boys cancelled as Brendan O'Carroll 'heartbroken'

Brendan O'Carroll has announced that the 2026 Mrs. Brown's Boys Christmas and New Year's Specials will not be filmed due to an unexpected medical issue. The 70-year-old Irish actor, who plays Agnes Brown, shared the news in a statement, expressing his regret and heartbreak.

Medical Issue Forces Cancellation

Following a CT scan, O'Carroll revealed he has two fractures in his mandible (jaw), which require immediate surgery and a few months of recovery. The decision to cancel the recordings was made on medical advice from his consultant, and he described being heartbroken as "an absolute understatement."

In his statement, O'Carroll said: "It is with sincere regret I must announce that due to an unexpected medical issue I will have to cancel the recordings of the 2026 Mrs. Brown’s Boys Christmas and New Year’s Specials." He added that he is "talking with the BBC about getting Mrs. Brown’s Boys back on the screen in 2027."
