Michael Sheen was eliminated from the Celebrity Traitors final just minutes into the episode, after Traitors Maya Jama and King Kenny chose to murder the Welsh actor. The decision left viewers at home fuming, with many taking to social media to express their frustration.
Traitors make their final move
The final episode aired on Friday, October 30, with seven celebrities remaining: Michael Sheen, Maya Jama, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, James Blunt, Sebastian Crost and Romesh Ranganathan. At the start of the episode, Maya and King Kenny, real name Kenny Oghenovo Ojuederie, had to commit one final murder, and they chose Sheen.
The move made Sheen the last celebrity to be murdered in the series, ending his run just short of the finish line. Fans reacted angrily on X, formerly known as Twitter, with one writing: "These traitors are actually idiots. Why go for Michael? It’s SO OBVIOUS #celebritytraitors." Another added: "#CelebrityTraitors YOU COWARDS !!!!! Not my Michael." A third person said: "NO MICHAEL, YOU WILL BE AVENGED #TheTraitors #CelebrityTraitors."
Sheen's reaction to his exit
Speaking about his departure, Sheen said: "Ah the time has come. Can't say I'm surprised but I am incredibly disappointed. Gutted that I got so close to the end. It's been absolutely unforgettable and I've loved every minute of it."
His exit came after a dramatic roundtable in the previous episode, where comedian James Acaster admitted to being a Traitor, a move never made before in the series. Acaster had been recruited as a Traitor by Maya Jama and Richard E Grant early on, but had made clear to host Claudia Winkleman that he wanted to be a Faithful.
Series finale context
Before his banishment, Acaster told the group: "I am so proud of you guys for catching me the way that you did, and I wanted it to be that I was found logically and in a way [where] you followed clues and got me."
Other Traitors this series included Richard E Grant, the first Traitor ever to be banished at the first Round Table of a series, and Hannah Fry. The Celebrity Traitors is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
