Meghan Markle in talks for Guy Ritchie Netflix role ahead of UK return
Meghan Markle in talks for Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen role

Meghan Markle is reportedly in discussions for a role in Guy Ritchie's Netflix series The Gentlemen, according to the BBC. The talks are said to be in their early stages, and would mark the Duchess of Sussex's first significant acting role since her marriage to Prince Harry.

Return to Acting

The Gentlemen is a comedy series about a duke who becomes a drug baron, starring actor Theo James. Hugh Bonneville and Vinnie Jones have appeared in previous series of the show. The two earlier series were filmed in the Cotswolds, which is where Harry and Meghan are rumoured to move when they return to the UK later this month.

UK Relocation Plans

According to sources in the US, Harry and Meghan's potential return to the UK is partly motivated by their disapproval of President Donald Trump. It is understood they may return for an "extended period" in the coming days, with their children, Archie and Lilibet, potentially being enrolled in a British school.

Katie Miller, wife of White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, said: "They are moving back to Britain because they don't like President Trump." In a swipe at the Sussexes, she suggested that Meghan "always just wanted to be a celebrity" and alleged the couple were "broke."

Privacy Concerns

Sources in the US also indicated "they have made no secret of their disillusionment with the current White House" as midterm elections approach in America. It is understood the couple discreetly stayed with a wealthy associate in the Cotswolds during a recent trip to the UK in early July.

The Sussexes are said to have looked for houses in the celebrity hotspot, where David Beckham and Jeremy Clarkson also reside. According to The Telegraph, Meghan and Harry "plan to take a firm line on privacy" throughout the relocation and "intend to protect [Lilibet and Archie] as much as they can."
