Maya Jama 'stabbed in the back' in Traitors final twist

Maya Jama was voted out of the Celebrity Traitors final at the round table after co-star King Kenny turned on her, in a twist that left viewers stunned. The Love Island presenter had managed to stay under the radar throughout the series but was banished by Kenny, Romesh, James Blunt and Bash in the final episode aired on BBC One.

Kenny's betrayal shocks fans

Speaking to the cameras, Maya said Kenny "stabbed me in the back", but she remained proud of her game, adding: "I'm proud of myself. I did it well, and I'm really proud of that."

Social media reacted quickly, with one fan writing: "And Kenny votes Maya!!!" A second said: "Kenny, what have you done!!" A third added: "Omg I think Kenny is gonna take this!" Another commented: "Kenny's played an absolute blinder!"

Final twist leaves players guessing

Because it was the final, Maya did not reveal her identity as a Traitor when banished, leaving the remaining players unsure if a Traitor was still among them. The prize pot stood at £83,000, which would go entirely to Kenny as the only Traitor or be shared among the Faithfuls.

The final episode, which aired at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer, followed a series that began with 21 celebrities entering a Scottish castle. The line-up included Coronation Street star Julie Hesmondhalgh, actor Michael Sheen, comedian Romesh Ranganathan, Maya Jama, King Kenny and Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock.

James Acaster's earlier confession

In Thursday's episode, James Acaster broke character for the first time in the show, admitting he was a Traitor and explaining he was responsible for murdering Ross Kemp in plain sight earlier in the series. He told the remaining players: "I just want to explain my situation, I was made a Traitor. I don't want to say 'it's me vote for me', but it's all I can do really."
