Love Island host Maya Jama has arrived in South Africa for the upcoming series of Love Island All Stars, after being forced to pull out of the launch event due to illness. The 31-year-old presenter was seen beaming in a white shirt and black sunglasses as she touched down, looking noticeably brighter than during her flight.
Jama had been due to attend the press launch in London on Monday but fell ill with flu just hours before her departure. A representative confirmed: 'Maya is unfortunately unwell and wasn’t able to attend this morning's launch event. She looks forward to the Love Island All Stars premiere on January 12th.'
Taking to Instagram, the Bristolian star shared a make-up free selfie on the plane, writing: 'Lol truthfully the flu came in last minute to kick my a** for the last 24hrs. Vitamin c'd up and praying the sun deletes it all.' She is dating Manchester City footballer Reuben Dias, with whom she spent Christmas.
ITV commissioning editor Amanda Stavri praised Jama at the launch event, saying: 'Maya is the perfect host for Love Island. She’s cool, she’s fun, she’s sexy... I think she makes it feel really young and relevant.' The new series promises to be the longest and most explosive yet, with 12 former islanders returning, including Whitney Adebayo, Millie Court, and Jack Keating.
Love Island: All Stars begins on January 12 at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
