Masked Singer Fans Convinced Toastie is Brenda Edwards After Whitney Houston Cover
Masked Singer: Fans Identify Toastie as Brenda Edwards

The latest series of ITV's The Masked Singer has sparked a major fan theory, with viewers overwhelmingly convinced that the celebrity inside the Toastie costume is television personality and singer Brenda Edwards.

A Show-Stopping Performance

During Saturday's episode, the mystery contestant delivered a powerful rendition of Run To You from the Whitney Houston film The Bodyguard. The performance left the judging panel, including Maya Jama, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, and Jonathan Ross, visibly stunned and prompted chants from the live audience.

Maya Jama was quick to comment on the vocal talent on display, noting: 'This is a really trained voice. As much as that side face throws you off...I think there's a diva in there...a big diva.'

Social Media Buzz Points to Brenda

Almost immediately after the broadcast, fans took to social media platform X to share their verdict. The consensus was remarkably unified, with numerous users identifying the voice and stage presence as that of former X Factor contestant and Loose Women favourite Brenda Edwards.

Key fan reactions included:

  • 'Brenda Edwards is a good shout for Toastie.'
  • 'I'm 100% convinced toastie is Brenda Edwards.'
  • 'Toastie is Brenda Edwards idc what anyone says.'
  • One fan even recalled: 'Toastie is Brenda Edwards as she sang at Bolton Wanderers Christmas carol concert at Xmas.'

An Early Exit for Another Star

The new series had already delivered a shock in its first episode when the first celebrity was unmasked. Disc Jockey, after performing Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan, found themselves in the bottom two against Gargoyle and lost the judges' vote.

The panel's guesses, which ranged from Annie Mac and Jill Scott to Sara Cox and Bonnie Tyler, proved incorrect. The mask finally came off to reveal BBC's The One Show presenter Alex Jones.

A relieved Alex Jones addressed host Joel Dommett, dedicating her brief stint to her children: 'Teddy, Kit and Annie, this was for you. I hope that you've loved it.' She later explained that appearing on the show was a deliberate attempt to step outside her comfort zone.

With Toastie's identity now the subject of intense speculation, all eyes will be on the next episode of The Masked Singer to see if more clues confirm the popular Brenda Edwards theory.
