MAFS USA Bride Forgets Groom's Name After Wedding

Married At First Sight USA viewers have reacted with disbelief after one bride forgot a major detail on her wedding day. The American edition of the popular reality series kicked off its 19th season this week on E4, broadcasting every weekday. Audiences have already watched the first two couples exchange vows with complete strangers at the altar.

Season Premiere Details

The current Married at First Sight series features 10 singles from Austin, Texas, who will marry before moving in together and undertaking various challenges while adjusting to their new marriages. Jalyn and Josh, along with Brittany and Will, have already tied the knot and are preparing to embark on their honeymoons, while additional couples gear up to meet for the first time at tonight's ceremony (May 19). The programme has, however, faced backlash online, with numerous viewers expressing dissatisfaction with its structure.

Rhonda and Pat's Awkward Moment

Yesterday's instalment thrust audiences directly into the wedding ceremonies, bypassing the traditional stag and hen celebrations. This evening's episode featured Rhonda and Pat's first encounter on their big day, with both appearing pleased as they confessed their mutual attraction, reports OK!.

Following their touching ceremony, the newlyweds spent quality time together, deepening their acquaintance. Pat revealed he's been divorced for five years, confessing: "I wasn't sure I would do this again, but I long for it." However, as their conversation flowed, Rhonda had an awkward admission to make. The 63-year-old confessed: "Oh God I have a confession to make, I forgot your name. Isn't that horrible?"

Fortunately, the mishap sparked laughter between the newlyweds, with Rhonda struggling to justify her memory lapse. Speaking to producers, she revealed she was so captivated by her new husband's face that his name simply escaped her, joking: "This is what happens when you have a 63-year-old on the show."

Viewer Reactions

But viewers weren't impressed, with one person writing: "Forgetting the name of the person you just married is a HUGE red flag!" However, another commented: "Yeah, but 63 means you get away with it." Later in the episode, Rhonda revealed she had a "proposition" for her new spouse, challenging him to leap into the pool fully dressed. After he accepted her dare, the couple shared a passionate kiss as Rhonda declared: "I think this was maybe the time we were meant to meet."

With the opening episodes diving straight into the wedding ceremonies, viewers have been left baffled, with one person writing on X: "I'm not sure about this version. Australia is hard to live up to." Another wrote: "The American version of this show is lowkey too serious." A third added: "Is there some missing episodes as it feels like we've missed a chunk of stuff."

Married At First Sight USA airs weekdays at 8pm on E4.
