Abigail 'Abi' Lindsay and John Shepherd, who met at the altar during the tenth season of the Channel 4 social experiment, shared a video on New Year's Eve captioned "You all know how our year started, but you don’t know how it ended, Cara Mia." In the clip, a beaming John addresses their followers directly.
"Hi everyone, we were going to do a little 'here's what we did this year' carousel but you know what happened. But you don't know the ending," he begins, before delivering the line that sparked immediate speculation: "We are very pleased to announce that we're expecting..." He then paused dramatically as Abi smiled radiantly beside him.

The footage then cut to the couple dressed as iconic gothic lovers Morticia and Gomez Addams, with John finishing his sentence: "- a fantastic New Year's Eve party." The clever edit confirmed the pair were playfully pranking their audience, rather than revealing a pregnancy.
