Rachel Gilmore, a bride on the UK version of Married At First Sight, has spoken out about the painful moment her husband Steven Danyluk rejected her kiss during Intimacy Week. The 35-year-old told Daily Mail that reliving the scene on television was almost harder than experiencing it the first time.
During the episode, Rachel's 'ultimate fantasy' was simply to share a kiss with Steven. However, he pulled back, leaving her humiliated. 'My heart just dropped to the bottom of my stomach,' she recalled. 'My ultimate fantasy was just ripped away from me, which was a simple kiss.'
Rachel explained that she and Steven had discussed boundaries ahead of Intimacy Week, agreeing to keep things respectful. 'I thought what I did was really respectful and tame, as per his requests. I simply just wanted a kiss,' she said. Despite the initial rejection, the couple later completed a three-minute kissing task, which Rachel said changed everything. 'It gave me all the feels instantly. I was absolutely chuffed.'
Rachel admitted she feared public backlash, expecting to be labelled as pushy, but instead received support from viewers. She also defended her decision to temporarily leave the apartment after the rejection, stating that Steven's words and actions were not aligning. 'You can't be telling me one thing and doing another. That's not fair,' she said.
