Married At First Sight Australia returned to E4 on March 9 with a new series, featuring 18 singles meeting for the first time at the altar. The explosive start included bride Alissa's unusual request that left guests stunned.
At the altar, Alissa told groom David she couldn't marry him unless he got down on one knee and proposed. David initially refused, calling it a 'red flag moment', but eventually complied, though his loved ones appeared unimpressed.
Viewers took to X to express their 'secondhand embarrassment', with one saying: 'Wow tears and all??? Crazyyyy.' Another wrote: 'And that is the first red flag .. David run now.' Some, however, predicted the couple would be a 'slow burn, but will work out'.
After the ceremony, David's friends described Alissa as 'gorgeous' but 'high maintenance', doubting their compatibility. The series, guided by experts Alessandra Rampolla, John Aiken and Mel Schilling, introduces a new 'Revelations Week' twist this season.
