Jasmine and Kavan, this year's Love Island runners-up, have addressed the claims that they blanked winner Julia during the live final during an appearance on the Newly Parents podcast with Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo.
Final drama
It has been a week since ITV broadcast the concluding episode of the 13th series live from the villa, presented by Maya Jama. Julia and Lorenzo won the public vote, with Jasmine and Kavan as runners-up.
Post-series drama has kept fans as engaged as the show itself. Several Islanders have shared statements on social media and behind-the-scenes details in interviews, reports OK!.
During the podcast, Jasmine was asked about friction in the villa and the apparent divide between some Islanders.
Villa 'sisterhood' and tensions
Jasmine said: "We, as the girls were so close, it was genuinely a sisterhood. To the point where I think the tension was always boys vs girls. It wasn't even about couple stuff because we were so close."
She acknowledged that the atmosphere changed after Casa Amor, when several of the men, including Kavan, returned with new people.
Jasmine added: "It wasn't necessarily that I think there was a divide, you could just feel that there was more of an allegiance or alliance on different sides for different reasons. And I think Julia is a massive character. She's such a confident, strong woman, says how she feels, very opinionated. Sometimes I would see traces of myself in her and that's iconic of you."
"But I think where we would struggle as a girl group was I think the emotional reading, like intelligence part of it. If someone was feeling something, you kind of just stop. You'd take a breather."
She continued by saying the 'hard part' with Julia was that Julia would seemingly not notice when someone was hurt during a discussion. That made things 'sour', but Jasmine and Julia spent considerable time together away from cameras that viewers did not see before the finale.
'No beef'
Jasmine said: "There's no beef at all. It's so minor. We've all lived this experience together."
Jamie praised her response but pointed out the internet's 'wild' reaction after it appeared Jasmine did not hug Julia as soon as Julia and Lorenzo were announced as winners. Jasmine responded: "I've heard this!" Kavan, baffled, asked: "Who didn't hug?" Jasmine said: "Apparently I didn't hug Julia."
She added: "I don't remember doing that. I think Maya grabbed me because she had to ask me something quickly, maybe she grabbed me?"
