Tommy Murphy admitted he tried to block fellow Islander Chidi from joining the Love Island 2026 cast group chat, which has become a hub for memes, reunions and post-show drama.
Group chat dynamics
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star, Tommy and Tina Rad revealed Tina takes on the role of welcoming new islanders as they leave the villa. "Tina messages everyone as soon as they come out. It's quite cute, really," Tommy said.
Tina added: "And then I add them in the group chat." Tommy insisted he is the admin, joking, "So I put the approval on." However, Tina revealed he almost refused to let one Islander join. "He was trying to not let people in," she laughed. "I was like, 'You can't do that.'"
After initially thinking it was Carlos, Tina recalled: "Was it not Carlos? You were like, 'He's not allowed in.'" Tommy corrected her: "It was Chidi." Tina replied: "Chidi! And I was like, 'Don't let him in.' He's so cute. Why didn't you want him in?" Tommy explained it wasn't personal: "I didn't not want him in. I was just like, whoa, too many requests that day. The chat was going off."
Non-stop activity
The pair described the chat as "hectic" and "crazy". Tommy said: "Everyone just puts stupid stuff in there." He said he posts memes and stupid videos, while Tina said it's where they organise nights out. "When we link up, where we're going, what we're wearing," she said.
Tommy joked the conversation is now dominated by the girls: "It's turning into a girls' group chat now, I'll be honest."
Post-show controversy
The light-hearted chat comes days after Tommy secretly filmed Tina listening to a voice note from Namibia "Mibs" Adjei and uploaded the clip online. Mibs branded Tommy a "clout chaser" and "pot stirrer" during the Love Island: Aftersun finale.
Tina told the Daily Star earlier this week she hoped to clear the air with Mibs. "We're going to speak tonight. We'll see how that goes. I didn't have any beef. I didn't make that up. I just want to know why. Hopefully, it could get squashed tonight." Tommy joked Tina was still waiting for an apology, while Tina insisted: "I think I'm owed an apology. I've done nothing wrong."
