A celebrity relative of one of this year's Love Island contestants has taken credit for their television debut this summer. Jazzy B, a close family friend of Samraj Toor, has revealed he persuaded Samraj's mother to allow him to appear on the show.
Family Friend Behind Samraj's Villa Appearance
During the eight-week run of the 13th series of ITV's dating reality show, viewers discovered the cast's unexpected links. Among them was Samraj Toor, who was booted from the villa days before the finale. He departed alongside Mica Harris, and the duo have been making the most of their time together since leaving, recently photographed celebrating at festivities in Mica's home country of Barbados.
During the series, it emerged that the 25-year-old model boasted a notable celebrity connection. Reports suggested Jazzy B was Samraj's uncle, though while Samraj calls the star his 'uncle', he's actually a close family friend, reports OK!.
Jazzy B's Revelation on BBC Radio
Now the musician has disclosed the true nature of his relationship with the reality TV personality and revealed he was behind his appearance on the programme from the start. Speaking on BBC Radio Asian Network, he told the presenter: "Samraj is actually one of my best friend's son. Beautiful guy, man. Such a humble kid."
He continued by confirming he's known him since infancy and has urged him to embrace life following his Love Island stint. Jazzy added: "I know a lot of people that are dissing it too but that's part of the package. I already told him, 'Hey, you wanna live your dreams, you're going to hear things from people.'"
Persuading Samraj's Mother
It appears Samraj's mother harboured serious doubts about her son's participation in Love Island. Without his musician uncle stepping in, he might never have made it past the villa entrance. The singer revealed: "I was talking to his mum, she wasn't happy about it (appearing on Love Island), she's a desi girl, a proper desi girl. 'Oh, Jazzy I don't like it...'."
He added: "Hey, let him live his dream man, you know what I mean. Don't hold the kids back. But I go, 'Yo, girl, chill. Let the boy live.'" The radio host pressed for clarity, asking: "So if it wasn't for you talking to Samraj's mum, he might not have gone in the villa?" Jazzy confirmed: "That's it, that's it man."
Reunion in Birmingham
Jazzy B didn't just discuss Samraj on air but also featured in one of his social media updates. Samraj recently posted an Instagram story telling his followers he was back in Birmingham and about to "link up with the one and only". The camera then swings round to show Jazzy B strolling beside Samraj. Speaking to the lens, he declared: "From Canada to the worldwide, baby."
Jazzy posted his own tribute to their touching reunion. In an Instagram caption, he wrote: "Love island wala munda. Keep your head up and live your dreams I'm still living mine don't let people judge you people will always have something to say just be positive and keep spreading that love out there and thank Waheguru ji everyday." Love Island is streaming on ITVX.
