Love Island All Stars Faces 11,000+ Ofcom Complaints Over Alleged Bullying Row
Love Island All Stars Hit with 11,000+ Ofcom Bullying Complaints

The latest series of Love Island All Stars has ignited a significant controversy, with the broadcasting regulator Ofcom receiving a staggering 11,073 complaints in just one week. These complaints centre on allegations of bullying behaviour within the ITV2 villa, specifically targeting islander Lucinda Stafford.

Viewer Outrage Over Villa Dynamics

ITV's spin-off show, which brings back former contestants for another shot at romance, launched its third series last month. However, the programme has been marred by viewer concerns that Lucinda Stafford is being "ganged up on" by other female islanders. Ofcom confirmed that the complaints are "related to alleged bullying behaviour," highlighting the severity of public reaction.

The "Mean Girls" Allegations

Contestants Belle Hassan, Samie Elishi, and Jessy Potts have been labelled as "mean girls" by some viewers due to their treatment of Lucinda. Many fans have claimed that these islanders have "targeted" their co-star throughout the series, creating a tense atmosphere in the villa.

Lucinda Stafford, who originally appeared in series seven of Love Island, is currently coupled with Sean Stone on the show. Her relationship dynamics have fuelled conflicts, particularly with Belle Hassan, who was initially paired with Sean before Lucinda's arrival.

Emotional Episodes Spark Complaints Surge

Tensions reached a peak during the "To Be Honest Game," where Lucinda was seen storming off in tears after a dramatic confrontation. Host Maya Jama intervened to comfort her, but the episode prompted 8,594 complaints to Ofcom in a single night after it aired last Friday.

The issue of Lucinda's treatment has even been discussed among the islanders themselves. In one scene, fellow contestant Whitney Adebayo directly asked Lucinda if she felt she was being bullied. The 26-year-old responded that she had not experienced bullying, though viewer perceptions differ sharply.

ITV's Response and Welfare Measures

A Love Island spokesperson addressed the concerns, stating: "The emotional wellbeing of all Islanders is paramount. Dedicated welfare producers monitor and speak with them all privately one-to-one, and psychological support is available 24/7. Islanders are therefore fully supported by both on-site professionals and their friends in the Villa."

Previous Complaints and Ongoing Drama

This is not the first time this series has attracted Ofcom complaints. Earlier episodes generated 200 complaints after viewers were outraged by villa chaos, including Belle Hassan swearing and storming out during a furious bust-up.

The conflict escalated when Lucinda "stole" Sean Stone from Belle, leading to retaliatory moves as Belle pursued Scott van-der-Sluis, despite his existing romance with Leanne Amaning. This triggered a massive row involving five islanders, with Lucinda confronting Belle over perceived "double standards."

On February 6 alone, 120 complaints were registered with Ofcom, with many viewers citing Belle's conduct as their reason for complaining, according to reports.

Continuation of the Series

Despite the controversy, Love Island All Stars continues to air on ITV2 and ITVX, with fans closely watching how the dynamics unfold. The show's producers maintain that all contestants receive adequate support, but the flood of complaints suggests viewer unease remains high.
