Love Is Blind UK star Ajay Cheema has revealed the unusual way casting producers found him for the Netflix dating show. In a recent interview with presenter William Grande, Cheema said he was originally approached for the very first UK season after being discovered on a dating app.
How the casting agent made contact
Cheema explained that he matched with a woman on Bumble and they began chatting. "It was so cheeky," he said. "So, I matched with a girl on Bumble. Me and her started talking. She was really keen and I was like 'This is good, this is going to go somewhere really quickly.' Pretty girl, I was just like 'This is fantastic.'"
The conversation moved to Instagram, where the truth emerged. "Within a few messages she was like 'By the way, I'm not single. I'm engaged and also I'm a casting agent,'" Cheema revealed. "She was like 'We're actually casting for this series called Love Is Blind. Would you be interested in having a chat?'"
From first approach to third season
Cheema soon met the show's executive producers and secured a spot on the line-up. However, he did not join the first or second series due to personal commitments. He kept in touch with producers and eventually signed on for the third season.
The third season ended with four couples getting married, including Cheema and Ciara Murphy. The other successful couples were Jack and Faye Domaille, Taylor Burgen and Sophie Tregaskiss, and Joseph Subuola and Francesca Emmanuel. Murphy originally connected with both Cheema and former chef Jack Bradshaw before marrying Cheema. The couple spent six months in Australia after the show before settling in London.
