Kelvin and Liz Fletcher sell bull Ezra on family farm show

Kelvin and Liz Fletcher sold their bull Ezra for £1,180 during the latest episode of Fletcher's Family Farm, as the couple also tackled sheep escapes while building a new maize maze on their Cheshire farm.

In the episode airing today, Kelvin decided to take Ezra to auction, explaining that another farmer could use the animal as a breeding bull or finish him in a few months' time. He noted that livestock prices were "exceptionally strong" and the strongest he had known in the five years the family had been farming, hoping the sale would help build their herd.

Emotional Farewell at Auction

Kelvin admitted to feeling "nervous" at the auction, while Liz said she had not had time to process the sale because the farm had been so busy. Speaking to the camera, she said, "I've not really had much time to process it because although I knew it was coming, you're just sometimes so busy getting on with life that now we're here and I feel like I've not said my goodbyes, but hopefully we'll do well."

The auction brought good news, with Ezra selling for £1,180. Kelvin commented, "It's great, very happy. I think that's tremendous."

Building the Maize Maze

Elsewhere in the episode, the couple faced problems while creating their maze, which will eventually open to the public. Kelvin explained in a voiceover that they had a design and needed to cut it out of their four-acre field, calling the project a gamble that could give a much bigger return than selling the maize for profit.

As they began, the couple had a slight disagreement, with Kelvin telling Liz, "You look like you just make it up as you go along." Liz replied, "I'm not. I'm looking at the map," while Kelvin stressed that there was a lot at stake and he wanted to make sure they were getting it right.

Sheep Escape and Final Results

Liz told the camera, "My biggest problem is Kelvin. He's always my biggest problem." Kelvin reflected on mowing the crop, saying, "You're just butchering it, you're ruining it, and it just doesn't sit well with me. But obviously, we have to do this to create the maze, like every first on the farm; this is a gamble."

The couple then faced "several problems with four legs and a woolen coat" when sheep escaped from their field, requiring them to round up the flock before adding the final swirls to the maze. After completing the task, both Kelvin and Liz were thrilled with the finished maze.

Fletcher's Family Farm airs on Sunday at 11.30am on ITV.
