The second series of The Celebrity Traitors began tonight (October 1) with 21 famous faces entering Ardross Castle. Among them were Love Island host Maya Jama, singer-songwriter James Blunt and actor Bella Ramsey.
Before entering the castle, the celebrities gathered in a church, where the seating arrangement gave them a brief chance to chat. Coronation Street actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, 56, was the fifth to arrive and sat on the opposite side of the room from the first four stars.
An Enthusiastic Welcome
When American actress Myha'la, 30, entered, Julie quickly got up and crossed the aisle to greet her. She told Myha'la she had just watched all of her BBC drama Industry, leaving the younger star visibly delighted.
"It's lovely to meet you, I'm such a big fan Myha'la," Julie said. "I've just watched all of Industry."
"Thank you," Myha'la replied with a giggle. "Oh my God."
Game Plan and Career
In a separate piece to camera, Julie explained her approach to the game: "I think that playing characters like I've played for many years - because I'm always goodies - could definitely stand me in good stead in the game. But, I do get a little bit starstruck and I do get a little bit hungry for friendship with people that I know off the telly, so I'm hoping that I can really, really pull that bit of myself back."
The "goodies" she referenced include her Coronation Street role as Hayley Cropper, which she played from 1998 to 2014. Her other TV credits include Mr Bates vs The Post Office, The Pack, Broadchurch and Cucumber.
The Celebrity Traitors continues tomorrow night at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
