John Barrowman has been mocked online after posting a furious rant about his business class experience on a flight from Los Angeles to London. The former Dancing on Ice judge shared a now-deleted video on social media criticising American Airlines, saying the service did not include free pyjamas.
Details of the complaint
The 59-year-old, who was travelling with his father and husband, tagged the company in the video and described their service as “shady”. He said: “Hi American [Airlines] we have paid for the flagship service. My father and my husband behind and the tickets were very expensive and we get on thinking we’d get pyjamas with the flagship service.”
He added: “Then you apparently only give them to the first two rows in business class. What’s that all about? So far you’re not batting very high. Meal order wrong and then told we don’t have exactly what everyone else is getting on the flight when we all have flagship service. Can you explain? Thank you.”
Public reaction
He concluded: “I find that shady and bad customer service. You’re supposed to be pushing this flagship and at the moment it’s not hitting the ball out of the park.”
However, not everyone was sympathetic. One user on X sarcastically tweeted: “Our thoughts are with John Barrowman at this difficult time,” while another wrote: “Stop moaning about a pair of pyjamas, if you paid business class you can afford a pair yourself!” Another branded John a “diva” for his “third world problems”.
Some did agree with the TV star that he should receive the service he paid for. One commented: “I’m in no way a fan of John Barrowman, but how do people have an issue with him asking for something he’s paid for?”
Barrowman is known for playing Captain Jack Harkness in the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood. In 2024, he competed on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
