Joanne McNally screamed, swore and ran off the set of Uncloaked after discovering that Maya Jama, James Acaster and King Kenny were the Traitors on Celebrity Traitors. The comedian had been banished from the BBC series after a tense Round Table showdown, despite insisting she was a Faithful.
McNally was voted out after a re-vote against Sharon Rooney, with the group convinced she had been hiding a secret. She left the castle without knowing who the Traitors were, but got answers when she appeared on Uncloaked with host Ed Gamble.
Shock at the first reveal
Handed a sealed letter with the identities, McNally screamed as she read the first name, YouTuber King Kenny. "Oh my God! They gave him the dagger as the most honest…" she exclaimed, referencing an earlier moment when Kenny had been considered trustworthy. She added: "Well now I know why he turned on me at the end."
Clearly stunned, she continued: "Wow, that is genuinely terrifying. I actually can't believe that. Did he have training did he go to RADA, or some s***? How the hell has he pulled that off."
Further names spark more chaos
When she opened the letter further, she leapt out of her seat and threw the paper to the floor after reading the next name, comedian James Acaster. "That p****, the one who's been trying to get rid of me from the start," she shouted, joking about his seemingly clueless behaviour.
The final reveal sent her over the edge. Seeing Maya Jama's name, McNally gasped, threw the paper down again and ran off set yelling: "Oh my God!" She eventually returned, looking stunned, as Ed reminded her she still needed to finish filming her reaction.
"Oh my God! I am deceased," she said. "Honest to God, I actually cannot believe that. Maya… we were building a life together. And James kept voting for me. Oh my God. Wow."
Apology and elimination aftermath
McNally then admitted she owed an apology to fellow contestant Leigh-Anne, whom she had repeatedly suspected. "Well I can only apologise to Leigh-Anne, who I repeatedly kept throwing under the bus," she said.
Her reaction came after she was eliminated during a tense Round Table, where Kenny gave her the double dagger. Despite the other celebrities' conviction, McNally left the castle insisting she had been a Faithful throughout the game.
"I've had such an amazing time with all of you, it's been one of the best experiences of my adult life, I actually feel emotional," she told the group. "I love you, it's just been amazing. Thanks for making it what it was." As she wiped away tears, she added: "I'm pre-menstrual. I've had such a great time. I am … a hardcore faithful."
Host Claudia Winkleman reprimanded the remaining contestants for eliminating another Faithful, telling them: "You've banished your fifth faithful, and at such an important time." Maya, who had known McNally's true status all along, pretended to cry as her friend left the castle. Speaking privately to the cameras, she said: "Tonight was so mad – I lost my favourite person in this experience, Joanne. She was my ball of fun, love her, I really do and she'll be my friend for life – I hope she feels the same after finding out I'm a traitor."
The episode also saw James come under pressure after Faithful Michael Sheen appeared to work out his secret. James eventually admitted he was a Traitor after being accused at the Round Table, in a moment that appeared to anger Maya. The remaining contestants subsequently voted to banish him.
