In a stomach-churning television first, Tom Read Wilson devoured an entire fermented duck egg during the nail-biting final of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! on Sunday night. The 39-year-old television personality made history as he and his fellow finalists, Shona McGarty and AngryGinge, battled through a series of gruesome trials to secure every single star for an epic Jungle Banquet.
A Historic Bushtucker Bonanza
Meeting hosts Ant and Dec at the Bushtucker Trial clearing, the three finalists learned they would each face a separate challenge to win a starter, main course, dessert, and drink for their celebratory feast. Tom took on the Bushtucker Bonanza, a daunting eating trial where he had to consume four revolting dishes to win three main courses and a drink for the camp.
His first dish was a fermented duck egg paired with a scorpion. In a move that shocked even the veteran presenters, Tom placed the entire egg into his mouth at once. An astonished Ant McPartlin exclaimed: 'Oh! We’ve never had that! 25 years and no one's ever popped it in whole.' This marked a genuine first in the show's long history.
Tom's trial continued with a series of brand-new delicacies for 2025. His second course was camel’s brain, his third a pig’s vagina, and his fourth and final dish was a huntsman spider. Showing immense fortitude, he successfully finished all four, securing the main courses and his chosen drink.
Trials of Terror for Starters and Desserts
Meanwhile, Shona McGarty faced the Rat Race to win all three starters for the group. Strapped down inside a tight, confined box, she had just eight minutes to retrieve four stars using only her mouth, all while being joined by rats, cockroaches, crickets, and mealworms. Using her tongue to expertly release each star, she triumphed, winning the starters and her selected drink.
Finally, AngryGinge confronted the Helmets of Hell to secure desserts. His challenge required him to place his head into four separate helmets and his hand into corresponding boxes below to release stars, with only two minutes allotted for each. The helmets and boxes contained a horrifying array of creatures including mealworms, toads, crickets, cockroaches, lizards, scorpions, and snakes.
For the final star, he faced rats in the handbox and his worst fear—spiders—in the head box. Ginge conquered his fears, successfully winning four out of four stars and securing all the desserts and a drink for the camp.
Feasting Like Royalty in the Jungle
That evening, the triumphant trio sat down to their hard-earned Jungle Banquet, dining like Kings and Queens. For their drinks, Shona chose a Diet Coke, Ginge opted for a Coke, and Tom, staying true to character, selected a coupe of champagne.
Their lavish meal began with starters of prawns pil pil for Shona, a double cheeseburger and chips for Ginge, and smoked salmon for Tom. The main courses featured boiled bacon and cabbage for Shona, a huge pepperoni pizza with chicken tenders for Ginge, and venison with red wine jus, dauphinoise potatoes, and broad beans for Tom.
To finish, both Shona and Tom indulged in chocolate fudge cake—Shona's with double cream—while Ginge devoured a huge slice of carrot cake. The feast was a fitting reward for one of the most successful final trial performances in the show's history.
