I'm A Celebrity Trial Takes a Terrifying Turn
In a dramatic shift from the usual critter-centric scares, Monday's episode of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! left viewers genuinely terrified, but not for the reasons you might expect. After winning the public vote, rapper Aitch, 25, faced the 'Night Night Sleep Tight' Bushtucker Trial, which saw him strapped to a bed beneath a fake spider.
The Real Scare: Masked Ghouls Invade the Jungle
The trial took a sinister turn when producers borrowed a concept from the hit show The Traitors, introducing a troupe of 'ghouls' dressed in long robes and frightening masks. These actors entered the trial area to drop snakes and insects on the rapper. At one particularly shocking moment, a large spider scurried directly onto Aitch's face and landed on his mouth, causing hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly to recoil in horror.
However, the real terror for viewers at home was not the wildlife, but the unsettling presence of the masked rangers themselves. Fans immediately took to social media to voice their fear, with many joking that the figures looked like they had escaped from The Traitors or were the infamous 'The Unknown' character from the disastrous Willy Wonka experience in Glasgow last year.
Camp Chaos: Contraband Scandal Erupts
Despite the terrifying ordeal, Aitch remained remarkably unruffled and successfully secured an impressive 11 stars for the camp. However, the campmates' celebration was short-lived. At dinner, they were dealt a nasty surprise when they were informed they had lost one of the hard-won stars after show bosses discovered contraband in the camp.
The celebrities were given an amnesty to surrender all forbidden items without further punishment before their dinner would be delivered. This came after Alex Scott was caught on camera during Sunday's episode sneakily using smuggled salt to season the camp's vegetables and rice. On Monday, Alex confessed to bringing in the salt packets, while Shona McGarty also owned up to having a can of air freshener.
In a display of camp unity, their fellow celebrities were quick to forgive the pair, acknowledging that their rule-breaking was intended to help the whole group. Aitch's bravery, combined with the unexpected contraband drama, made for one of the most memorable episodes of the series so far.
