Gerrard joins Neville's The Overlap Daily show

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has started working for former Manchester United captain Gary Neville by joining his new daily football programme, The Overlap Daily.

The ex-midfielder follows former teammate Jamie Carragher in partnering with Neville, who founded The Overlap brand. The show will broadcast every weekday at 4pm on YouTube, with the inaugural episode on Friday, October 9.

Star-studded line-up

The first episode will feature Carragher, Neville and YouTube personality Mark Goldbridge. Other contributors across the week include Joe Hart, Jamie Redknapp, Ashley Young, Tim Sherwood, Kelly Cates, Duncan Ferguson, Mark Crossley, Becky Ives and Peter Schmeichel.

Gerrard, who has resumed punditry duties with TNT Sports this season, will make his regular presenting debut alongside sports broadcaster Becky Ives on the Monday slot.

Daily football debate

The Overlap Daily aims to deliver a daily summary of the latest football news and debate, with regular contributors providing analysis alongside hosts' viewpoints and forecasts. The show will also incorporate questions from supporters through a phone-in feature.

After Monday's programme with Gerrard and Ives, Tuesday's will feature Cates, Young and Hart. Wednesday's instalment will see former Tottenham figures Redknapp and Sherwood take control, while Thursday's show will feature Everton legend Ferguson and former Wales goalkeeper Crossley. The Friday edition will be fronted by Goldbridge, joined by regular co-hosts Carragher, Hart and Schmeichel.

Success of The Overlap

The new show follows the success of Neville's existing podcast, The Overlap, which has accumulated over 38 million monthly views since launching in 2021. High-profile guests including David Beckham, Tyson Fury and Rory McIlroy have appeared, establishing it as one of the UK's most listened-to podcasts.

Neville explained: "We have wanted to create a daily show for some time now. There was a moment in the last year where a manager was sacked and we didn't have a programme for seven days - at that point we recognised that we needed to go for it."

He added: "The quality and profile of our incredible host line-up speaks to our commitment to deliver the best insights and debate on the biggest football stories, and we'll now be doing this daily."

Simon Pitts, Group CEO of Global and Co-Chair of The Overlap, stated: "The Overlap has created one of the most powerful football brands in the game by putting brilliant talent and genuine fan conversation at the heart of everything it does. Overlap Daily takes that ambition to the next level, creating a place for the stories and debates that matter, every day, with an incredible line-up of the best football voices in the business."
