My heart is shattered into a million pieces. Today our beautiful mum passed away peacefully surrounded by LOVE.

Joan's Incense Confession

An unearthed clip shared to TOWIE's official YouTube page shows a sweet moment between mother and daughter. The pair are having tea in the garden when Gemma expresses frustration over her then-relationship with co-star Charlie King and their lack of intimacy. This prompts a discussion about how Joan treated Gemma's past partners.

"You're a good judge of character. When I've brought my boyfriends back if you didn't like them you'd go round the house burning the incense in every room to get the vibe out," Gemma recalled.

"Yeah, well if I felt really funny I would like burn incense in every room," Joan admitted. However, she dubbed Charlie "the sweetest boy", adding: "I think he's so lovely."

Fans of the show will know that Gemma and Charlie ultimately parted ways, but their courtship provided some of the most entertaining moments in TOWIE history.

Celebrity Tributes

In the wake of Joan's passing, Gemma has been flooded with support from celebrities across reality TV, music, and beyond. Among those sending condolences was Elton John, who penned: "So sad to hear. Our thoughts are with you and your family."

Fellow TOWIE star Megan McKenna posted: "Oh Gemma my heart breaks for you. I’m so sorry. Thinking of you so much," while Harry Derbidge shared: "Omg Gemma, I am so sorry to hear this I am heartbroken for you and the family. Joan was such an amazing lady and I’m so lucky to have spent time with her, always the memories x thinking of you and the family. Love you and always here."
