Four in a Bed Stars Clash Over Harsh Underpayment
Four in a Bed Stars Clash Over Harsh Underpayment

During repeat episodes aired on Saturday, August 1, sparks flew on payment day as Grace and Conor, Cheshire property owners from The White Lion in Crewe, received feedback from Hertfordshire property owners Sue and Roger.

Sue and Roger underpaid Grace and Conor after finding issues with cleanliness, pointing out there was “a massive lump of hair and liquid in the toilet brush holder.” “That’s why we gave you a 7,” Roger continued.

Breakfast score adds to the tension

While Grace and Conor appeared to understand, they were not as impressed by the score they received for breakfast, another 7. Sue said: “I couldn’t get my fork into the bacon, I do like well-done bacon, but it was just a little bit overdone. And the bread, it’s my preference, I prefer the option of granary or seeded bread.”

Conor tried to explain that Sue could have asked for other bread that suited her taste, disagreeing that her complaint deserved a 7. “It does feel a little bit harsh,” Grace agreed.

Fellow contestants defend the breakfast

Roger replied: “7 is still a good score but I know you’re looking for a lot better being a chef.” Conor hit back: “We did get a lot better.”

Their competitors, Laura and Claudia from Buxton, stepped in to defend them, insisting a 7 had been a “harsh” decision. Another duo on the show, Eirlys and Demelza, also claimed the breakfast had been “delicious.” “7 is a bit harsh for you,” they added, though Sue stood by her “disappointing” score.

Conor also said to the camera: “7 is not good enough, I’m not happy with that. Respectfully, Sue, I don’t like it.”

Overpayment and underpayment

Despite Sue’s comments, Claudia and Laura gave Conor and Grace a £20 overpayment, saying they would have paid the extra for the breakfast alone. “We think you’re too cheap to be honest,” they admitted. Conor said: “Laura and Claudia made us feel warm and fuzzy inside.”

However, Sue and Roger gave Conor and Grace a £5 underpayment due to the cleanliness and breakfast. Grace quipped to the camera: “One of the main points was the cleanliness issue, and the big old clump of hair, so whoever’s hair it is, we’ve sent it off for testing, I’ll find them!”

Four in a Bed is available to watch on Channel 4.
