Grace and Conor hosted the other B&B owners at The White Lion in Crewe during the repeat episode airing on Saturday, August 1, where a clash over cleanliness and breakfast led to an underpayment.
Sue and Roger, from Hertfordshire, scored the pair 7 for both breakfast and cleanliness. Sue explained: “I couldn’t get my fork into the bacon, I do like well-done bacon, but it was just a little bit overdone. And the bread, it’s my preference, I prefer the option of granary or seeded bread.”
Conor said Sue could have asked for other bread, adding: “I don’t think it respectfully equates to a 7.” Grace agreed: “It does feel a little bit harsh.” Roger said: “7 is still a good score but I know you’re looking for a lot better being a chef.” Conor hit back: “We did get a lot better.”
Welsh co-stars' praise
Eirlys and Demelza, from Carmarthenshire, insisted the breakfast had been “delicious”, adding: “7 is a bit harsh for you.” When they gave their feedback, along with a £20 overpayment, Grace was left in tears.
They said: “We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. If I was your mum, I’d be very, very proud of you both.”
Tearing up, Grace said: “Thank all of you, thank you so much for coming to stay with us, and thank you for the feedback. Any of you, come back anytime and we’ll look after you.” She added to the camera: “It killed me off a little bit, it was just really touching.”
First place
As a result, Grace and Conor’s The White Lion finished in first place, with two £20 overpayments and one £5 underpayment.
Grace said: “I’m speechless.” Conor added: “I’m so happy.” Grace went on: “I’m really proud of the business, and really proud of us, there’s no words.”
Eirlys and Demelza, who took second place, said: “They’ve worked hard like everybody else and to be honest, we couldn’t lose to a better couple.”
