Ex-Boyfriend Clarifies MAFS Bride Julia Vogl's Bisexuality

The ex-boyfriend of Married At First Sight bride Julia Vogl has spoken out to correct misconceptions about her sexuality. Jarrah Volpe, who dated the former journalist from 2020 to 2023, told Daily Mail that Julia was open about her bisexuality throughout their relationship.

Volpe dismissed claims that Julia is exclusively lesbian, stating that their mutual attraction proved she is also drawn to men. 'I never felt that Julia wasn't attracted to me, and we were together for three years,' he said. He added that Julia had dated several women before him and that her bisexuality was never an issue.

Regarding Julia's on-screen marriage to Grayson McIvor, Volpe said he was unsurprised it failed. He noted a lack of physical affection between them, contrasting with Julia's naturally affectionate nature. 'It felt like there wasn't that sense of genuine attraction between them; there didn't seem to be a spark,' he explained.

Volpe also commented on Julia's new relationship with Melbourne music teacher Sasha Millar, describing their bond as genuine. 'I really see affection between them... It's a beautiful energy to be around,' he said. He believes Julia is happier now, in a relationship that supports her.

Volpe criticised the show's portrayal of Julia, saying it made her 'one-dimensional' by focusing solely on her sexuality. 'They didn't show her personality, who she actually is,' he lamented. Julia confirmed her new same-sex relationship earlier this month, stating she has 'never been happier'.
