Ex-Boyfriend Clarifies MAFS Bride Julia Vogl's Bisexuality

Former Partner of MAFS Star Julia Vogl Addresses Sexuality Misconceptions

Jarrah Volpe, the ex-boyfriend of Married At First Sight bride Julia Vogl, has spoken out to correct widespread misunderstandings about her sexual orientation. In an exclusive interview with Daily Mail, Volpe detailed his three-year relationship with the Melbourne-based former journalist from 2020 to 2023, emphasising that Vogl was always transparent about her bisexuality.

Open Discussions About Bisexuality From the Start

"A couple of her partnerships before we got together were with girls. When we first got together, it was one of the first things we spoke about, it was never an issue," Jarrah explained. "It wasn't a surprise to me that she was bisexual, because I have always known her to be that. It never took away from our relationship, never affected it. It wasn't a surprise to me at all."

He was particularly keen to dismiss inaccurate reports suggesting Julia was exclusively lesbian, pointing to their mutual attraction as clear evidence that she is also drawn to men. "I never felt that Julia wasn't attracted to me, and we were together for three years. Never in our relationship was there a conflict of her interest in me, because I was a man," he stated firmly.

Insights Into Her Failed MAFS Marriage

Jarrah also shared his perspective on why Julia's televised marriage to Grayson McIvor ultimately collapsed, revealing he wasn't shocked by the outcome. "It wasn't a surprise, because Jules is a really affectionate person. I knew she liked me because she was always touching me, our arms around each other, et cetera. I could see that their closeness and physicality wasn't there," he observed.

"It felt like there wasn't that sense of genuine attraction between them; there didn't seem to be a spark." This lack of authentic connection, according to Jarrah, was a clear indicator that the relationship was unlikely to succeed beyond the cameras.

Support for Her New Relationship

Turning to Julia's current romance with female music teacher Sasha Millar in Melbourne, Jarrah expressed genuine happiness for his former partner. "I really see affection between them. Jules' arms are right around Sasha, they are kissing. It's a beautiful energy to be around," he described warmly.

"I believe she is so much happier to be in a relationship that is expanding her, making her feel grounded, that is really celebrating her. She has someone that is loyal and in her corner, Sasha has got Jules' back." He added that Julia's experiences on MAFS would have provided valuable lessons about her relationship needs and boundaries.

Criticism of Her Television Portrayal

Jarrah concluded with disappointment about how Julia was represented on the dating show, feeling producers reduced her to a one-dimensional character. "What I was shattered about is that they made her really one-dimensional. They kept saying that she was bisexual. They didn't show her personality, who she actually is," he lamented.

"Jules is, in the best way, weird and authentically herself. I feel it is such a shame they made her so one-dimensional in her sexuality, that they didn't show her beautiful personality." This commentary comes amid reports confirming Julia's new relationship with Sasha Millar, a heavily-tattooed brunette who works as a travelling music teacher proficient in singing and guitar.

Julia herself confirmed the relationship to Daily Mail earlier this month, expressing that she has "never been happier" since leaving the MAFS experiment. Jarrah's insights provide a nuanced understanding of her journey, challenging simplistic narratives about her sexuality and personal growth.
