Emmerdale star Jay Kontzle has warned that Billy Fletcher and Dawn Taylor could face the wrath of both Joe Tate and Kim Tate as they plot their escape from the village. Billy is desperate to flee with his pregnant ex-wife Dawn next week before her groom Joe realises what they are planning.
Dawn, played by Olivia Bromley, is set to wed Joe, but recent scenes have seen her decide to run away with ex-husband Billy and their children. They want to escape before Joe, played by Ned Porteous, finds out, knowing the villain is dangerous.
Kim Tate's power
But it might not just be Joe they need to watch out for, as Billy actor Jay Kontzle told the Mirror that Kim Tate, played by Claire King, may also try to stop them. Billy and Dawn's future rests on Billy's boss Caleb Miligan, played by Will Ash, sticking to his part of the deal and securing the passports and money for their new life together.
As Caleb drags his heels, Jay told us Dawn and Billy could face the wrath of the Tates. Suggesting they were in danger, he said: "I think there is definitely an urgency for them to get away."
"They've not seen the full wrath of Joe yet. I don't think anyone realises how much power he's got. It's not just that Joe is powerful, it's Kim Tate as well."
Caleb's vendetta
"Billy has kind of seen the darker sides of Kim and the power that Kim's got. So, them, both Dawn and the kids, away from Joe as quickly as possible is kind of what they're after." And prior to the wedding as well, because they don't want the wedding to go happen.
But Caleb could ruin things for Dawn and Billy, slowing down on giving them what they need in favour of ruining Joe's life as much as possible. "Billy's frustrated," said Jay. "He doesn't understand his and Caleb's relationship, because he thinks it's a friendship. Caleb is trying really hard to take Joe down for everything he's done in the past."
Caleb's fury stems from Joe stealing his kidney last year for a transplant, as well as Joe's other actions including being to blame for the deaths of three characters, blackmailing the Sugdens and framing Moira Dingle for a dark crime. Billy soon realises that he and Dawn are just pawns in Caleb's revenge game.
Action and upset ahead
"Caleb's got this vendetta, and regardless of his relationship with Billy, he will do anything in his power to hurt Joe," said Jay. "So whether Billy ends up getting caught in the crossfire of that, Caleb won't care.
"I think Billy thinks that there should be a closer friendship between the two of them, and Caleb should be doing a little bit more to protect him." On Billy's own agenda, Jay told us: "Billy just wants Dawn back, and he wants the family unit back.
"Joe took Dawn from him, and I don't think he's ever gotten over it. This would be that little bit of revenge." Teasing the big week, he went on: "I think there's going to be a lot of action, there's going to be a lot of upset.
"There's going to be a lot of decision making, and it's going to affect the village massively moving forward. There's going to be all sorts of people affected from this."
Emmerdale's big wedding week begins on Monday 24 August on ITV1 and ITVX.
