The race is on to find Jimmy King's money as his funeral finally arrives in Emmerdale, with Nicola preparing to deliver her own eulogy after discovering the truth about his affair with Sadie King. Elsewhere, Gabby Thomas collapses and is rushed to hospital, while Charity Dingle is released from prison.
Charity comes home
Charity is thrown when Serena visits her in prison and is surprised when she wants to talk about Sarah. Meanwhile, in the village, Thea tries to talk Sarah out of her blackmail plan but Sarah appears immovable. Later, Thea catches up with Serena for an update on how things went with Charity. It is all a disaster, and Thea's hand is soon forced.
Before long, Charity is staggered when a prison guard tells her she's going home. Charity is uneasy when Sarah isn't there to meet her with the rest of the family. Charity asks Sarah for a word in the backroom, and all wait with bated breath. But can Sarah forgive Charity for her betrayal?
Gabby needs help
Manpreet catches up with her colleague Dr Liam regarding her concerns over Gabby, explaining she thinks she has orthorexia and is determined to help her. Laurel is soon troubled when Manpreet chats to her about Gabby's recent social media posts. But when Laurel heads to speak to Gabby she can't find her - unbeknownst to Laurel, Gabby is having a full blown panic attack on the floor behind the counter at the Hide.
Before long Robert is pleased to overhear a conversation about the Hide's financial troubles. But Laurel is shocked to find Gabby on the floor and tries to establish what brought on a panic attack. Suddenly Gabby collapses and Laurel calls an ambulance. Waking in the hospital a little while later, Gabby gives Manpreet permission to tell Laurel about her orthorexia. Gabby is emotional but seemingly ready to accept she needs help with Laurel and Manpreet's support.
When Billy learns about Gabby he is apologetic for not spotting the signs earlier. There is also the problem of young Dotty who saw some of Gabby's worrying social media posts.
Jimmy's funeral is here
Nicola prepares for Jimmy's funeral but, still broken by his betrayal, asks Charles to deliver the eulogy. Carl finds a mysterious key in Jimmy's belongings from the scrapyard but is upset that Jimmy won't be there for his birthday tomorrow. Later, Sadie hears that Nicola has found backed up voicemails on Jimmy's laptop and is privately anxious.
The next day, as Carl puts on a brave face through his birthday celebrations, Sadie tells Robert about the voicemails and he urges her to deal with it. Soon shady Sadie is on a mission to sneak in and delete them. Rodney walks in and she is forced to cover her tracks. The next day, Nicola gets a call from Hotten Golf Club, listening in from the corner of the cafe Robert's ears prick up and when Manpreet recognises the key as the one for Jimmy's locker at the Golf Club.
It is a race against time as Sadie grabs Robert to rush where they think Jimmy's money is stashed. In the locker room they're forced to hide when Rodney and Nicola walk in and it looks like they might be rumbled. But will they find Jimmy's cash?
The villagers prepare for the funeral at the Woolpack. When Carl panics over having lost the memorial presentation he made for his dad Jimmy - Nicola logs onto the laptop to help. She finds the voicemails and Nicola and Laurel listen to them. Will Nicola finally learn the truth and what will she do?
Meanwhile, the villagers gather in the church, and Sadie makes herself comfortable with a front row seat. As the funeral begins, Charles delivers an impersonal speech so Nicola halts him and decides to make a speech herself.
