Emmerdale spoilers: Charity free, Sadie's scheme nears end

Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) was left sobbing in the arms of Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) in Emmerdale as Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) refused to forgive her for lying about baby Leyla. The moment Charity – and fans – had longed for arrived in tonight’s visit to the village as the Woolpack icon was released from prison after vengeful Sarah had her put behind bars as punishment.

Sarah's revenge plot and release

The cruelty of Sarah’s revenge plot was berated by her loved ones, who eventually managed to guilt trip her into changing her statement to the police regarding Dr Todd’s (Caroline Harker) demise in the hopes of getting her gran freed. But with that plan having failed, Sarah interred blackmailed DS Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) into tampering with evidence that resulted in Charity walking free.

Despite apologising for her horrific revenge plot that saw Charity go to prison for a crime she did not commit, Sarah maintained that she cannot forgive her gran for lying over baby Leyla. Charity therefore had little time to bask in her freedom before she was left sobbing once more. Sarah, meanwhile, realised that actions have consequences, with Ramsden having her exactly where she wants her.

Sadie's cruel claim and Nicola's shock

Elsewhere, Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) broke Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) a little bit more as she claimed that Jimmy (Nick Miles) used to refer to her as his ‘one and only’, knowing that the patriarch used that turn of phrase to describe soulmate Nicola. It was quite an episode and if you’re eager to find out what’s coming up then you’re in luck as we’ve got a taster of tomorrow’s visit to the village below.

What happens next in Emmerdale?

Spoilers for Thursday, October 8 episode: In light of Sarah’s decision, Charity will no doubt be devastated. The question is: can she make her granddaughter change her mind and look to the future instead of dwelling on the past? That remains to be seen but it seems a big decision is on the cards for Sarah and Jacob Sugden (Joe-Warren Plant) in the wake of what Ramsden has said.

Elsewhere, Nicola is left in shock when she receives a call from Hotten Golf Club. Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) – who is in cahoots with Sadie in a bid to get their hands on Jimmy’s missing cash – is nearby in the cafe when she receives said call and his interest is most certainly piqued. Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker), meanwhile, recognises the key Nicola came into possession of earlier in the week as the one used to open Jimmy’s locker at the Golf Club.

Putting two and two together, Robert tracks Sadie down to inform her of the latest discoveries and, without wasting a moment, they rush to the location where they think Jimmy’s money will be located. Before they can enact the final stages of their plan, however, Nicola arrives with Rodney Blackstock (Patrick Mower) in tow – and it looks like they’re set to be caught out! Is this the end for Sadie and Robert’s cruel scheme? And will the money be located?

Elsewhere, Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) offers to visit Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) following her hospitalisation. Emmerdale airs these scenes Thursday, October 8 at 8pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX or YouTube.
