Questions are being asked about the moments leading up to Jimmy King's (Nick Miles) crash in Emmerdale – and it appears we may have an answer already.
Earlier this week, Jimmy told wife Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) that he had planned a surprise for them at their special spot on the Home Farm grounds. Jimmy headed up the road in the car to the location, and instructed Nicola to meet him there a while later. Jimmy never arrived though.
Fatal crash and explosion
In a shocking twist, he crashed his car through a fence and into the marquee where Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) and Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) were supposed to get married. The collision knocked the trio unconscious. When Nicola eventually arrived at the location, it soon became clear to her that her husband wasn't going to survive. Jimmy died in the car, right before the marquee exploded.
As Dawn and Joe were rushed to hospital in today's episode, Nicola had the absolutely devastating task of going home and telling her three children that their dad had died.
Police investigation and new clues
In search of answers as to why Jimmy ended up on the field, Kim Tate (Claire King) headed to the scene to speak to the police. The detective in charge of investigating the crash is Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge). She is somehow connected to the Tates, and is busy trying to find something that destroys Kim.
Thea had to keep her emotions in check during the chat with Kim, who asked whether Jimmy swerved something or someone, ultimately leading to the crash. Prior to Kim's arrival, an officer confirmed to Ramsden that they had found a second set of tyre tracks.
Gabby Thomas spotted at the scene
Ramsden assured Kim that they'd get to the bottom of things. Just as Kim left, the camera panned behind them both, and we saw Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) hiding beside a bush. Does this mean Jimmy swerved his car to avoid hitting Gabby? Is she somehow to blame? Or does she know who is?
