Charity Dingle's secrets may come to light on Emmerdale very soon. The character has been hiding the truth about baby Leyla's parentage for months. Leyla is being cared for by Charity's granddaughter Sarah Sugden and her husband Jacob. They believe Leyla is their daughter after Charity offered to be their surrogate. Of course, what they do not know is that Charity slept with Ross Barton and fell pregnant with his baby. Leyla is their child, but they have kept it a secret. Charity's husband Mack has no idea about the fling or the fact that Leyla is Charity's daughter, but this could all change next week.
Charity's Struggle
Spoilers have confirmed that Charity is struggling to cope after her recent turmoil. Charity was sexually assaulted by Dr Todd in horrific scenes, after weeks of Charity being blackmailed by the character. Charity reported the crime to the police but soon withdrew her statement, after being told there was little evidence. Dr Todd fled the village, and Charity was left struggling to cope. Not believing she could tell anyone the truth, Charity lied that she had postnatal depression.
Mack's Concerns
Mack fears there is more to it next week, when Charity suffers a breakdown and goes missing. With it clear to Charity's loved ones that she is not doing well, Cain Dingle tries to get her to open up. She refuses, and Mack feels useless as he does not know how to help his wife. He tells Chas Dingle about it all, and she feels guilty about Mack's turmoil given Charity's lies. Chas knows about baby Leyla, and she also knows about Charity's recent theft and the blackmail by Todd.
Chas does not know about the horrific assault, but she does know that Mack is in the dark about Charity's betrayal with Ross. When Mack tries to help Charity once more, she becomes overwhelmed and does not want to be near him. She speeds off in a car and ends up at a lake. She ignores Mack's calls, and he tells the family what has happened, leading to search attempts which soon fail.
The Truth May Come Out
Mack decides he has to call the police to help find his wife, worried about her safety. As he tells the police everything he knows, it is not long before he questions whether he is missing something. He turns to Chas, asking her if there is anything she knows that he does not. Given the situation they are in and with concern mounting for Charity, will Chas tell Mack the truth about baby Leyla and the blackmail ordeal?
