EastEnders fans are convinced a soap legend could be heading for an “explosive” exit. Peter, now played by Thomas Law, made his debut way back in 1993 as the son of Ian (Adam Woodyatt) and Cindy (Michelle Collins) and twin brother of the now-deceased Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater).
Decades of Walford drama
Over the years, he has found himself involved in a ton of big Walford moments. From his romance with Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) to the return of his ‘dead’ mum Cindy, his time in the square has not been short of drama. He also found out he had two other half-sisters, Gina and Anna Knight (played by Francesca Henry and Molly Rainford), after Cindy had another secret family during her marriage to George (Colin Salmon).
Most recently, Peter was left heartbroken when his newborn son Jimmy, whom he shares with his wife Lauren, was confirmed to have been born severely sight-impaired. He has also endured his mum shacking up with his father-in-law, Max Branning (Jake Wood), and his own dad, Ian being sent to prison after he injured Jordan Fox in a hit-and-run.
Lauren's betrayal and fan fears
In recent weeks, wife Lauren cheated on Peter with Mark Fowler Jr (Stephen Aaron-Sipple). Although the pair called it quits, Lauren and Mark have continued to secretly see each other. And now, with more drama likely to come, fans fear an exit could be on the cards for Peter.
On a Reddit thread, one person mused: “So, a Lauren and Peter split seems inevitable at this point. Although first we’ll be treated to an unoriginal affair. But when that time comes, I don’t know who I'll see Peter with? Or if I even see him in the show at all.”
Someone else added: “I don’t see him with anyone, to be honest. He has a lot of stuff he needs to sort out. Maybe some time away after the explosive reveal.” A third chimed in: “I’m really not a fan of Peter's character since they brought the OG actor back. I feel like he can be very condescending, selfish and downright narcissistic at times. It wouldn’t annoy me if he left.”
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One.
