Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Denise Richards has broken her silence on her divorce from estranged husband Aaron Phypers, marking her first public comments since a judge granted her a five-year restraining order against him.
Emotional Appearance at BravoCon
The 54-year-old Bond Girl spoke candidly during the Bravo2Bravo panel at BravoCon in Las Vegas on Sunday. Richards revealed she's navigating the difficult process with support from loved ones, telling the audience: "I'm good. It's a process. I have such a great support system. Thank you so much."
The actress addressed the challenges of having her personal life play out in public, noting: "Being in the tabloids is very daunting. When you first have to deal with it, it's very hard... it's different because on the reality shows, our personal life is out there. On reality, you can't pretend it's not happening."
Legal Action and Serious Allegations
On November 7, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mark Juhas issued significant restrictions against Phypers, ordering the 52-year-old to:
- Stay away from Richards completely
- Cease threatening or harassing her
- Stop sharing nude photographs of her
- Surrender any firearms to police
These measures came after Richards accused her estranged husband of physical abuse. Phypers, who was born Cameron, has consistently denied ever physically harming the Illinois-born actress.
The legal troubles for Phypers escalated on October 17 when he was arrested and charged with two felony counts of injuring a spouse dating back to 2022, along with two felony counts of dissuading a witness by force or threat.
Divorce Proceedings and Financial Demands
The Canadian-American former CEO, who reportedly has "no income," initiated divorce proceedings against Richards on July 7 after six years of marriage. Phypers has requested substantial spousal support of approximately $105,000 per month.
Richards has countered with her own demands, asking that Phypers cover her legal expenses and any costs related to the alleged abuse. She has also requested that he complete a 52-week batterer intervention programme.
The couple's relationship began in December 2017, shortly before Phypers finalised his divorce from Desperate Housewives actress Nicollette Sheridan in 2018.
Family Life and Future Projects
Richards has two daughters from her previous marriage to Charlie Sheen - Sami, 21, and Lola, 20. The couple's two-year marriage ended acrimoniously in 2006. As a single parent, Richards adopted her 14-year-old daughter Eloise Joni Richards in 2011.
Fans can look forward to seeing Richards return to television screens when she makes appearances in the upcoming 15th season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which premieres on December 4 on Bravo.
During the 'Bravo Bravo F'ing Bravo' Q&A last Saturday, the Starship Troopers alum confirmed: "I did a couple episodes coming up. It's just an appearance, not even a 'friend of.'" When questioned about potentially returning to the franchise as a full-time Housewife, Richards teased: "We're talking about things," leaving the door open for future involvement.
