Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) suffers a heartbreaking meltdown after becoming confused during an eventful visit to the salon in a brand new Coronation Street spoiler video.
The emotional scenes begin when Debbie unexpectedly arrives at the salon while Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) is having a manicure from Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon). It soon becomes apparent that Debbie is reliving memories from her hairdressing past, and she quickly makes herself at home. Rather than upsetting her, Bethany decides to go along with the situation.
Maria steps in as Debbie reaches for scissors
When Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) later returns to the salon, she’s surprised to discover Debbie busy giving Bethany an impressive full eighties makeover. Bethany continues to play along, but the light-hearted situation suddenly becomes more concerning when Debbie reaches for a pair of scissors and, realising it’s time to intervene, Maria quickly steps in and comes to Bethany’s rescue before Debbie can continue with her makeover.
Sadly, the incident leaves Debbie confused. She stares at the scissors, seemingly struggling to understand what has just happened, before becoming overwhelmed and rushing out of the salon.
Emotional turmoil at the hotel bar
Debbie later heads to the hotel bar, where she finds Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) having a drink. But she’s in no mood for company and gives Ronnie short shrift before her emotions become too much, and she suffers a terrible meltdown. The upsetting incident leaves those closest to Debbie with another reminder of the challenges she’s facing.
Later in the week, Kevin and Abi Webster (Michael Le Vell and Sally Carman-Duttine) decide to take Debbie out for lunch as they turn their attention to her upcoming birthday. They hope to discuss plans for the occasion and make it something special for her, but Ronnie has concerns.
Birthday plans under scrutiny
After hearing about another recent mistake involving Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin), Ronnie suggests that it might be better to scale back Debbie’s birthday celebrations rather than going ahead with anything too ambitious. His suggestion comes from a place of concern, but it remains to be seen how everyone else will react to the idea.
With Debbie’s confusion becoming increasingly difficult to manage, her loved ones are left trying to work out how best to support her while still allowing her to enjoy herself.
