Coronation Street fans believe they have worked out what happens in an upcoming showdown between Jodie Ramsey and Shona Platt, after Doug Ramsey was taken in by mental health services following Jodie's sinister plan to get him out of the picture. Doug had been trying to stop Jodie from targeting her sister Shona.
Jodie's plan to take over Shona's life
Jodie, who was reunited with long-lost sister Shona in January after the horror crash between Weatherfield and Emmerdale characters, has been ramping up her efforts to take over Shona's life. Shona, who went into early labour after the accident, was not pleased to see Jodie at the hospital, but David Platt invited Jodie to stay at No.8, and she has been nothing but trouble since.
Jodie has been trying to make Shona and her loved ones think she is suffering from post-natal depression as she struggles with baby Harper. In upcoming scenes, Jodie makes her next attempt to wipe her sister from the picture, telling David he "deserves someone that will treat you right."
Doug's exit and Bethany's discovery
During Monday's (October 6) episode, after tampering with his medication, Doug was seen acting worryingly before Bethany Platt found him. Doug claimed that Jodie and David are having an affair, which Shona shut down, but it left Doug sounding like he was in a mental health spiral. Jodie then called his doctors, and the mental health outreach team admitted him to the hospital.
Bethany later caught Jodie listening to a recording of Harper crying and threatened to expose her, but Jodie played a recording of Bethany admitting to sleeping with her mum's ex, Kit Green.
Fans predict the showdown
Fans are now concerned that Doug could return and end up in the crossfire during a gun-wielding showdown between Jodie and Shona. @TVMusings26 asked: "So is Doug the one who gets shot? #Corrie." @sam_Fletcher78 replied: "Well if Doug has gone back into care, I can’t see him being out in a few days (unless he escapes). So I reckon it will be Jodie either shooting herself and blaming it on Shona, or Lilly shooting Jodie especially after being told ages ago of the gun being fake….But there maybe another twist!" @Face4209Ghost echoed: "At this rate it's gonna end up being Lily."
