Coronation Street fans have issued a clear demand to bosses after sharing the same praise for a specific part of Betsy Swain's latest recovery scenes. Viewers of the ITV soap, filmed in Salford, have been flooding social media with compliments for the emotional moments between Betsy and her stepmum Carla Connor-Swain, but many are now calling for more scenes featuring Carla and her wife Lisa Connor-Swain together.
Betsy's stroke storyline so far
Back in July, the teen was found on the kitchen floor of No.6 Coronation Street by Ryan and was rushed to hospital, where it was confirmed she had suffered a stroke at just 18 years old. Betsy's condition appeared to stabilise before she had a second stroke, both of which were confirmed to have been caused by a blood clot, the result of neck artery damage from a temporary loss of circulation.
When doctors spoke to Betsy about the cause, the teen had to explain to her mum, Lisa Connor-Swain, that her boyfriend, Dylan Wilson, had strangled her during consensual sex, despite both believing the pressure applied was minimal.
Return to Underworld and fan reaction
Since the initial stroke scenes, Betsy has been seen starting her recovery, first in hospital and now back at home on the Street. Having recently applied to a fashion college, which would begin in the new year, Carla was seen getting her to join her at Underworld for a bit of practice. Carla called on her staff to make Betsy feel welcomed and supported upon her return, but later they were calling on the factory boss as Betsy had fallen asleep at her machine.
Carla gently woke her up, and Betsy felt mortified. Her stepmum comforted her as she said she 'couldn't do it anymore' and branded herself 'useless'. Fans were quick to gush over the scenes, with @RyanSoapKing25 saying: "The Betsy and Carla scenes in tonight's #Corrie are heartbreaking #Swarla." @SwarlaMoments commented: "I love seeing Carla support Betsy and give her the reassurance and comfort she needs #Swarla #Corrie."
