Coronation Street fans have been sharing their verdict on a new romance between Maggie Driscoll and Brian Packham, but it seems they want more from another duo.
During the latest episode of the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, on Wednesday (August 26), Ben and Ollie Driscoll were exchanging words when they were distracted by someone on the staircase. When a dishevelled Brian emerged, followed by Maggie, after a spontaneous night together, everyone was left in obvious shock. And in Weatherfield, news travels fast, and it wasn't long before the Rovers was full of chatter about the unlikely dalliance between the two neighbours.
Romance hits a snag
However, it looked like it could be over before it even started, as when a smitten Brian arrived at the pub with an expensive bouquet of flowers, flanked by Mary Taylor and Rita Tanner, he was upset to hear Maggie giving Eva Price quite the disastrous review of their night together. An embarrassed Brian quickly made his way back out the door, while Rita condemned Maggie for her unkind comments. Realising what she'd done, Maggie headed to The Kabin to apologise to Brian, but wasn't given much of a chance with Mary securely by his side, sticking up for her friend at every opportunity.
Fans cast their verdict
But it didn't take Corrie fans long to cast their verdict on the possible new Weatherfield couple on social media. @RyanJL said: "Sorry but I'm so here for this Brian and Maggie story. It'll be lovely to dive into a softer side of Maggie and for Brian to be with someone who is such a force of nature. A bonkers pairing but it could be really great fun! #Corrie." @danielsbian commented: "i quite like the idea of maggie and brian #corrie." @KerriVibe_ admitted: "#Corrie Brian and Maggie I never saw that one coming." @izzygooldjones posted: "Maggie & Brian I ship it, they can be Braggie." @informationgoddess_electra suggested: "I hope they develop Brian and Maggie's situationship. Maybe Maggie will soften and tone down her vile cruelty towards Eva."
Another duo steals the show
But some Corrie fans were more interested in another duo, as Glenda Shuttleworth was seen coming to a drunken Christina Boyd's aid, as she pines over Glenda's brother, George Shuttleworth. @MJ_JJ061215 wrote: "Christina and Glenda. 2 absolute #Corrie legends." @kelliebroono shared: "Glenda and Christina and comedy gold!
