Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) is on the warpath after the Barlow family come down with food poisoning, and she confronts Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) over the dodgy meat served at Speed Daal. The culprit is some past-its-best biryani, and it triggers an all-out restaurant war between Leanne and her ruthless beau Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) on one side, and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) on the other.
Speed Daal under fire
It isn't long until Idris is drowning in complaints from other customers – all struck down with sickness after eating at Speed Dahl. Chef Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike) conducts a full inspection of the food in the kitchen, and the entire restaurant team are floored to learn that all of the meat served the previous night was well past its sell by date.
Leanne is struck – Nick was responsible for the delivery. Surely he's not trying to sabotage her business?
Tracy demands compensation
Always quick to make a bad situation worse, Tracy lingers around Leanne making demands; where there's blame, there's almost certainly a claim, and she wants a healthy serving of compensation for the funky food that left her family sick.
Idris is at the end of his tether and decides that it's Nick that needs to pay for what's befallen Speed Dahl. He rallies Leanne to join him in confronting her ex, demanding he show some accountability.
Bistro reputation in tatters
Soon after, the bistro falls victim to some truly awful online reviews, and with their reputation in the gutter, customers start cancelling left and right, leaving Nick terrified for the future of his business.
As things continue to get worse, Nick tells Leanne that they've swapped out their usual meat supplier for cheaper supermarket options. Leanne is struck with an idea: why doesn't he sell the bistro before he loses anymore minute?
Toyah is less than impressed with the suggestion and accuses Leanne and Idris of sabotaging them to try and buy the business at a knock-down price. Idris later needles Nick over the bistro's struggles, before suggesting that Nick sell the place back to Leanne.
